The Gainesville Police Department Mental Health Clinician (PMHC) is a non-sworn professional position that provides behavioral health support, crisis intervention, resource coordination, and case management services to members of the community and the Gainesville Police Department.
Working as part of an established co-responder program, the PMHC collaborates with law enforcement officers, healthcare providers, schools, courts, social service agencies, and community partners to assist individuals experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, homelessness, victimization, behavioral health crises, and other complex social needs.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience at the intersection of behavioral health and public safety while developing skills in crisis intervention, forensic behavioral health, community psychology, systems coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional development opportunities are available, including supervision toward Georgia licensure for eligible clinicians.

Required credentials: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related behavioral health field.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Associate Professional Counselor (APC), or actively pursuing licensure in the State of Georgia required.
